This article examines the epistemological structure of studies on Islam in Eu-rope through the silent but foundational influence of the discipline of inter-national relations (IR). It shows how dominant approaches in IR have shaped the production of knowledge on Islam in Europe through frameworks fo-cused on security, risk, and governance, and how Muslim subjectivity has been marginalized in this process. The epistemic circulation between aca-demic knowledge production and European security policies contributes to the gradual transformation of Islam studies into a security-focused field. The article explores the effects of these epistemic silences on social representa-tion, democratic participation, and the space for public debate, and proposes alternative epistemic pathways based on postcolonial, critical, and participa-tory approaches. The research thus draws attention to the need for epistemic justice and pluralism in studies on Islam in Europe.
